Episode Forty-Four

The Dispatcher

What if we lived in a world where those who are murdered get a second chance at life and the only person to bring that victim back was called a Dispatcher? Well guess what...we don't. Episode Forty-Three

Before I Fall

by Lauren Oliver
Narrated by Sarah Drew
Imagine reliving the day you died over and over again until you were able to change your entire outlook on life and become a better person in the process...or you don't have to imagine that, because that's really morbid for this fine Monday afternoon. Oops! Anyway, in this episode we feature the audiobook, Before I Fall, by Lauren Oliver, narrated by Sarah Drew. Join us as we discuss how Sarah Drew's performance is better in this audiobook than she has ever been in Grey's Anatomy as April Kepner, the powerful content of the choices we make in our lives to be better people, and the theme of grief that is displayed throughout this audiobook. Will you shelf this audiobook for all of eternity? Or will you fatally shove it and hope it doesn't "ground hog day" itself back into your life?

Episode Forty-Two

We Have Always Lived in the Castle

by Shirley Jackson
Narrated by Bernadette Dunne
1962. A time when horror novels didn't push "jump scares," gore, and cheesy psychological tropes down your throats. Instead, the twists came in more of a slow burn fashion and established a menacing revelation during it's climax that would leave you breathless. Today, we travel through the wickedly creepy mind of Shirley Jackson via her most admired horror novel, We Have Always Lived in the Castle. What makes this episode so creep-tastic is that Britney and Brad recorded it while sitting in the dark, in front of a row of sinister battery operated candles, and hearing disturbing noises coming from the floors and walls that surrounded them. Will this classic literary story be scary enough to give Britney and Brad shelving nightmares? Or should we bury this audiobook for good and shove it forever?

Episode Forty-One

The Vanishing Game

by William Boyd
Narrated by Russ Bain
The promotional audiobook, The Vanishing Game, begins as a seemingly innocuous transporting job in a weather-battered Land Rover Defender and quickly unfolds into a dangerous plot with a shadowy cast of characters. Sound interesting? Well it wasn't. Join Britney and Brad as they pulverize the writing, character development, and unnecessary name dropping of a very expensive vehicle--all of which make this audiobook absolutely miserable; yet, makes this episode laugh-out-loud funny. There is more shade this episode than a garden of palm trees. Enjoy!
